Jory Bice, better known as Elixir, began spinning electronic music in early 1997. He's played major parties in Ontario such as WEMF, Destiny, Eclipse, and Future Sound and was a Hullabaloo resident. He is currently a resident for Bassteasers (www.bassteasers.com). Not only has he entertained crowds throughout Ontario, Canada but he has travelled across North America from Montreal to Vancouver, San Francisco to Buffalo, pumping up thousands of party-goers ready to dance all night long! Elixir has had the great pleasure of opening for Binary Finary during the peak of their career. He has also played at huge events featuring artists such as Paul Oakenfold, Pendulum, Chris Liberator, Dave the Drummer…the list goes on and on.
When people ask what "style" Elixir plays, it's a hard question to answer. It's best described as a hard melodic pulsating trance, adding a funky break-beat, a twist of electro and mixing eclectic sounds into a kind-of hearty instrumental stew…..thus the chosen moniker "elixir". Starting off his DJ career with a mix of ambient and hardcore, he eventually found his groove in trance and acid techno, which he became well known for. A few years later he incorporated a mix of breaks and electro. He continually evolves, but always keeping true to his roots in music.
Elixir soon started on production of his own music with such influences as Alien Factory, Nostrum, Lab 4, Space Girl and Marino Stephano. Each track is liberally-laced with sweeping melodies, acid lines and robust bass lines. The result is a distinct, pounding hard sound that is in turn broodingly melodic and uplifting. His track "READY THE RHYTHM" released through Dynamix-UK in 2003 was also remixed by Kevin Energy and was a top seller on the Nu Energy Record Collective. There has also been a vinyl release under the "discotoast.com" record label with "Acid Moon" as well as "Lone Raver ".
Elixir plans to continue on his quest in making music as well as spinning at parties. Be sure to check out his website and affiliations for any upcoming performance dates, mixes or tracks!
